Park Forest is unique in offering more than 2,000 cooperative dwelling units at five different non-profit cooperative corporations. Co-op residents are shareholders in these corporations, and pay low monthly carrying charges for building and common area maintenance and refuse collections. In Park Forest, the carrying charges tend to be much lower than rents on comparable units, and a portion of these payments qualify as tax deductions under Federal and State income tax laws. There are a number of different options for residents seeking multifamily rental options. These include high rise living, town home style living, and housing geared to a senior population. The village has instituted a Crime Free Housing Ordinance that helps to ensure that all residents are living in a safe and neighborly community. Add a statement about the parental responsibility ordinance. More information about how these Ordinances impact residents, homeowners, and landlords can be found on the Park Forest Police Department’s home page.
