During the winter months, the Public Works Department will be working hard removing snow from Village streets. Public Works is responsible for 72 miles of roadway located within the Park Forest corporate limits, and clearing all streets can take some time. All public streets are plowed in order of most traveled streets to less traveled streets. Residents in some parts of Park Forest may be part of homeowners associations or cooperatives who hold contracts with outside companies for snow and ice removal.
By ordinance, motorists may not park on Village streets after 2 inches of snowfall between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. The purpose of restricting parking is to allow the snow plows to effectively remove snow from Park Forest streets, and keeps parked vehicles from being snowed-in.
